This is a magical floating city that was created by wood pilings on 118 submerged islands in the Northern end of the Adriatic Sea.

Marco Polo and Giacomo Cassanova were born here.

There are 400 footbridges and 170 boat canals.

Few people realize that only 3 – 4 new gondolier licenses are issued a year!

To qualify, applicants must be able to finish an extensive training after passing a rigorous exam.

Actually, there are only 400 licensed Gondolas operating here today.
