May 7, 2013

Hola amigos!  These objects honor the dead and bring

Welcome to Tucson, Arizona. Probably first visited by Paleo-Indians about 12,000 years ago, Tucson eventually became a part of the Mexican state of Occidente (Sonora after 1830) after Mexico gained independence from Spain in 1821.

It became part of the American New Mexico territory in the 1850s.

While much of it’s population 55 years old and over,

it has a large Mexican-American community and is a popular

tourist destination and university town
